THE GIFT OF A GARMENT THAT IDENTIFIES BELIEVERS
Psalm 51:7 - "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."
[Note: "Purge me" refers to a cleansing from sin. "hyssop" was the plant used to apply blood to the frame of the door in Exodus 12:21-28. See also Leviticus 14:1-9; 48-53. "wash me" tells us we do not cleanse ourselves, but we are cleansed of sin by God!]
Isaiah 1:18 - "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Daniel 7:9 - "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days did sit, Whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head like the pure wool: His throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire."
[Note: See also Matthew 17:2; 28:3; Revelation 1:14. "We shall be like Him" - 1 John 3:2!]
Daniel 11:35; 12:10 - "And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed....Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."
[Note: These verses refer to Jews who will be martyred during the second half of Daniel's Seventieth Week - the Great Tribulation - Matthew 24:21. The only way a person can be saved will be by coming to faith in Christ - it is He Who purifies - Revelation 12:10-12; 13:12-18.]
Revelation 3:4-5 - "Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels."
[Note: The only way one can be an overcomer is by faith in Jesus Christ - 1 John 5:4-5.]
Revelation 4:4 - "And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold."
Revelation 6:9-11 - "And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held: and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, Holy and True, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."
Revelation 7:9, 13-14 - "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands....And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? And whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
Revelation 19:7-8; 13-14 - "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.....And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."
A WHITE GARMENT, A GIFT OF THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD,
AWAITS ALL WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST,
THE SON OF GOD! DO YOU HAVE ONE WAITING FOR YOU?
