THE SIN OF UNBELIEF!

THE FIRST SIN WAS THE FAILURE TO TRUST GOD!

Genesis 3:1-6 - Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yea, has God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

GOD ALONE IS TRUSTWORTHY!

2 Samuel 22:31 - As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the LORD is tried (has been tested and found to be true):  He is a buckler (a shield; defender) to all those that trust in Him.

Job 13:15 - Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him....

Psalm 34:22 - The LORD redeems the soul of His servants:  and none of those who trust in Him shall be desolate (found guilty).

Psalm 62:7-8 - In God is my salvation and my glory:  the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.   Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him:  God is a refuge for us.

Psalm 73:28 - But it is good for me to draw near to God:  I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Thy works.

Psalm 125:1Those who trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever.

Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 30:5Every Word of God is pure:  He is a shield unto those who put their trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

Hebrews 2:9-13 - But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.  For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons (children) unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.  For both He that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one:  for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare Thy name unto My brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto Thee.  And again, I will put my trust in Him.  And again, Behold I and the children which God has given Me.

WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH IN GOD WHOM WE TRUST!

2 Corinthians 1:9-10 - But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God Who raises the dead:  Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver:  in Whom we trust that He will yet deliver us....

Hebrews 13:20-21Now the God of peace, Who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that Great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to Whom be glory forever and ever.  Amen.

THE GREATEST GIFT YOU SHALL EVER RECEIVE!

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

Matthew 6:33But first seek the kingdom of God, and His righteousness....

1 Samuel 26:23 - The LORD render to every man His righteousness....

Job 33:26 - He shall pray unto God, and He will be favorable unto him:  and he shall see His face with joy:  for He will render unto man His righteousness.

Psalm 50:6And the heavens shall declare His righteousness....

Psalm 97:6 - The heavens declare His righteousness....

Psalm 98:2 - The LORD has made known His salvation:  His righteousness has He openly shown in the sight of the heathen.

Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after His righteousness:  for they shall be filled.

HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT!

Romans 3:20-22 - Therefore by the deeds of the Law there shall no flesh be justified (declared righteous) in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.  But now the righteousness of God without (apart from) the Law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all those who believe....

Romans 4:2-5 - For if Abraham were justified by works, he has whereof to glory; but not before God.  For what do the Scriptures say?  Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.  Now to him who works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  But to him who does not work, but believes on Him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 5:17-19For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.   Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.  For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

Romans 10:1-3Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 - Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:  we pray you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God.  For He (The Father) has made Him (His Son) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Galatians 2:21 - I do not frustrate the grace of God:  for if righteousness come by the Law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Ephesians 2:8-9For by grace are you saved through faith; and not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:  not of works, lest any man should boast.

Philippians 3:9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

2 Timothy 4:7-8I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:  and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.

Titus 3:4-6But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing (being born again - Jn. 3:5-9) of the Holy Ghost; Whom He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior....

James 2:23And the Scripture was fulfilled which said, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness:  and he was called the Friend of God.

Revelation 19:7-8 - Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him:  for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself ready.  And to her was granted  that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white:  for the fine linen is the righteousness of (God reserved for His) saints.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD!

Romans 10:9-13 (As I understand it.) - If you shall confess with your mouth your faith in the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes and is declared to be righteous; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes in Him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile:  for the same Lord is full of mercy and grace unto all who call upon Him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
