BE LIKE ME, SAYS THE LORD!

Matthew 5:1-9

[1-2] And seeing the multitudes, He (Jesus) went up into a mountain:  and when He was set, His disciples came unto Him:  and He opened His mouth, and taught them, saying,
[3] Blessed are the poor in spirit (Isaiah 57:15):  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Blessed are they that mourn (Isaiah 61:1-3):  for they shall be comforted.
[5] Blessed are the meek (Philippians 2:5-8):  for they shall inherit the earth.
[6] Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness (Matthew 6:33; 2 Corinthians 5:21): for they shall be filled.
[7] Blessed are the merciful (Luke 6:36; Hebrews 8:12): for they shall obtain mercy.
[8] Blessed are the pure in heart (Ezekiel 36:26): for they shall see God.
[9] Blessed are the peacemakers (Romans 5:1-2, 8-10): for they shall be called the children of God.

COMMENTARY ON THE ABOVE!

[3]  Isaiah 57:15 - For thus says the high and lofty One Who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

[4]  Isaiah 61:1-3 - (Jesus quoted this in Luke 4:18) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me; because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.

[5]  Philippians 2:5-8 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

[6]  Matthew 6:33; 2 Corinthians 5:21 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness . . . . For He (the Father) has made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

[7]  Luke 6:36; Hebrews 8:12 - Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. . . . For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

[8]  Ezekiel 36:26 - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

[9]  Romans 5:1-2, 8-10 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:  by Whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. . . . God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life (His Resurrection).

THE WORK OF MAKING US LIKE CHRIST,
IS TOTALLY THE WORK OF GOD HIMSELF!
