THE BEGINNING OF CHRIST'S PUBLIC MINISTRY

THE BEGINNING OF THE EARTHLY MINISTRY OF JESUS CHRIST

Luke 3:1-3, 21-23 - Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests (A.D. 26), the Word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.  And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. - - - Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art My beloved Son; in Thee I am well pleased.  And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph....

John 1:34-36 - And I (John the Baptist) saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.  Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; and looking upon Jesus as He walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God!

Mark 1:9-13 - And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.  And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him:  and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.  And immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.  And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto Him.

JESUS CHOSE TWELVE DISCIPLES

Matthew 10:1-7 - And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.  Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.  These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:  but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

CHRIST'S FIRST MIRACLE REVEALED HIS IDENTITY

John 2:1-11- And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:  and both Jesus was called, and His disciples, to the marriage.  And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto Him, They have no wine.  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.  His mother said unto the servants, Whatsoever He says unto you, do it.  And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the water pots with water.  And they filled them up to the brim.  And He said unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.  And they bore it.  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew); the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, and said unto him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse:  but thou have kept the good wine until now.  This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.

A DISCIPLE IS ONE WHO BELIEVES THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST,
TURNS FROM LIVING A LIFE OF SIN,
PUBLICLY CONFESSES FAITH IN HIM BY BEING BAPTIZED,
AND DEDICATES THE REST OF HIS OR HER LIFE,
TO DOING THE LORD'S WILL!

NOTE THE ORDER:  FAITH, BAPTISM, AND SUBMISSION!
