DANIEL 9:24-27 - THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING GOD'S PLAN FOR ISRAEL!
Daniel 9:24-25 - Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Notes: "Seventy weeks": is actually seventy sevens of years, or 490 years. "Thy people" tells us that this prophecy is about the nation of Israel! The command to build Jerusalem was given in the month of Nisan (the first month of the Hebrew calendar) by Artaxerxes (Persian king who reigned from 465-424 B.C.) in his twentieth year as king, according to Nehemiah 2:1-6. The anointing of "the most Holy" had to do with anointing Messiah's body for burial, and His death would end the sixty-ninth "week" (see v. 26; Mark 14:8; John 12:3-7).
Daniel 9:26-27 - And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Notes: The sixty-nine "weeks" (483 years) ends with the Crucifixion of Jesus. Israel has officially rejected their Messiah (John 1:11). There is one "week" (seven years) remaining of this prophecy. It has yet to occur. It is a seven-year alliance between Israel and the Antichrist, which is described in detail in Matthew 24 and Revelation 6-18, is known as "The Time of Jacob's Trouble (Jeremiah 30:7) and "The Tribulation" (Matthew 24:29). Half way through the seven years (1260 days - Revelation 11:3 and 12:6; 42 months - Revelation 11:2 and 13:5; "a time, times, and half a time" - a year, two years, and half a year - three and a half years - Revelation 12:14).
THE "GAP" BETWEEN THE SIXTY-NINTH AND SEVENTIETH WEEKS!
It has been nearly 2000 years since Israel officially rejected their Messiah. This "gap" between Israel's sixty-ninth week and the seventieth, was a total mystery to the writers of the Old Testament. The Apostle Paul refers to the mystery which is the temporary setting aside of Israel, and God's 2000 year relationship with the Church. He wrote:
Romans 11:25 - For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.
Romans 16:25 - Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to my Gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began....
Ephesians 5:32 - This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church.
1 Timothy 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF DANIEL'S SEVENTY WEEKS?
Matthew 24:29-30 - Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
JESUS IS COMING BACK TO COMPLETE THE PROPHECIES CONCERNING
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HIS 1000 YEAR REIGN ON EARTH!
