AN OLD MAN'S THOUGHTS ON CHRIST'S MODEL PRAYER!

THE LORD'S MODEL PRAYER IN MATTHEW 6:9-13!

OUR FATHER - Romans 8:15-17 - For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ....

WHO IS IN HEAVEN - John 1:18; 8:23 - No man has seen God at any time; the Only Begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared (revealed) Him. - - - And He said unto them, You are from beneath; I AM from above:  you are of this world; I AM not of this world.

HOLLOWED BE YOUR NAME - Psalm 99:3; Jeremiah 10:6 Let them praise Your great and terrible name; for it is holy. - - - For as much as there is none like unto You, O LORD; You are great, and Your name is great in might.

YOUR KINGDOM COME - Matthew 12:28; Luke 22:18 (Christ's two Advents) But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. - - - For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN - Daniel 4:35 - And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing:  and He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth:  and none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, What are You doing?

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD - Exodus 16:15, 21; John 6:48; 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 - And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna:  for they wist (knew) not what it was.  And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.  And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating - - - I AM that bread of life. - - - For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:  and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, Take, eat:  this is My body, which is broken for you:  this do in remembrance of Me.

AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS (SINS; TRESPASSES) - John 8:24; 1 John 1:9 I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins:  for if you believe not that I AM, you shall die in your sins. - - - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS (WHO HAVE SINNED AGAINST US) - Matthew 18:22-23 Then came Peter to Him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  Till seven times?  Jesus said unto him, I say not unto you, Until seven times:  but, Until seventy times seven.

AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION - James 1:13-14 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:  for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither does He tempt any man.  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL - 2 Corinthians 10;13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

FOR YOURS IS THE KINGDOM - John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world:  if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews:  but now is My kingdom not from here (it will be one day - Revelation 19:11-20:15).

AND THE POWER - Matthew 28:18 - And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.

AND THE GLORY - John 17:21 Father, I will that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I AM; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me:  for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

FOREVER - Romans 1:20; 1 Peter 5:10 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse - - - But the God of all grace, Who has called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

AMEN - Hebrews 13:20-21 Now the God of peace, Who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to Whom be glory forever and ever.  Amen.
