THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE "GOOD OLD DAYS!"

THE GOOD OLD DAYS BEFORE THE FALL OF ADAM!

Genesis 1:26-27 - And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness:  and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.  So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish (Hebrew "mala" - translated "fill" 107 times) the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (Hebrew "oklah" - food)And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat:  and it was so.  And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.  And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

THE FALL OF ADAM!

Genesis 3:1-8Now the serpent (Satan - see Revelation 12:9; 20:2) was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yea, has God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, You shall not surely die:  for God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:  and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

ADAM AND EVE WERE CALLED ADAM BY GOD!

Genesis 5:1-3 - This is the book of the generations of Adam.  In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him; male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam (Hebrew "adam" - translated "man" 408 times, "men" 121 times and as the name of the man Adam 13 times), in the day when they were created.  And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:  and the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years:  and he begat sons and daughters:  and all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Note:  Following the Fall of Adam, the first couple brought many children into the world.  While we do not know how many (only three were named:  Cain, Abel, and Seth), apparently all were in the image and likeness of Adam, not God!

THE "GOOD OLD DAYS" ARE AN ILLUSION!

The days before the Fall were good days; God even said they were "very good" (Genesis 1:31)!  But following the Fall, women have suffered in childbirth, men have had to become hunters and gatherers to keep from starving, and the sentence of death has been passed on throughout all generations!  So today, when someone says he misses the "good old days," what he is saying is that the conditions in which he finds himself, are less pleasant and more difficult than earlier in his life.  We long for the days when people hid their sin.  And, the "good old days" differ for different groups; for instance, try finding a Black American that believes the days of slavery were the "good old days!"  Today, man seems to not only be open about their evil deeds, they actually enjoy and encourage the sins of others.  The Apostle Paul wrote nearly two thousand years ago:

Romans 1:20-32For the invisible things of Him (God) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:  who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, Who is blessed forever.  Amen.  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:  for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence (consequences) of their error which was meet (fitting).  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (not acceptable); being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:  who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

FOR ALL WHO TRUST IN CHRIST,
WE LOOK FORWARD TO
THE GOOD NEW DAYS!

1 John 3:1-2Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God:  therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Jesus.  Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when Jesus shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
