ARE YOU A NOAH?

About a century ago, when my wife and I accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, there was a popular Christian song that helped to form my theology. The song was It's Gonna Rain, and it showed, not only this world's future, but it showed the progression of how God does things. First, God warns His prophet ("God told Noah, it's gonna rain"). Then His prophet warns God's people ("Then Noah told the people, said it's gonna rain") And finally, as the song's chorus says, believers warn others ("I tell you, it's gonna rain").

The chorus says:
"I tell you,
It’s gonna rain, it's gonna rain,
You better get ready and bear this in mind.
God showed Noah a rainbow sign,
Won't be water, it'll be fire next time."

The Apostle Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:10-12 concerning this future event:
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"
Jesus spoke of the resemblance between the days of Noah's flood and His Second Coming in His Olivet Discourse. His first point was that no man know when the event will occur (Matt. 24:36). Just as those who lived and watched Noah build the Ark, man will continue living and enjoying "the pleasures of life" (Matt. 24:38). And like Noah and his family, God will remove those who have accepted His grace (Gen. 6:8; Jn. 14:1-3; Eph. 2:8-9; 1 Thes. 4:13-18). In Noah's case, he was lifted up above the destruction below in a boat; born again believers will be lifted up above the destruction of God's judgment in the Rapture.

Today, God has provided His Word for us, His messengers, and we are to pass His warning on to a lost and dying world. In essence, the Word represents the prophets, and we are all "Noahs." God has provided "an Ark" which is the free gift of salvation to "whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord" (Rom. 10:13). But unfortunately, I am afraid we are closing in on the "day we will all set sail." The rain "of fire" awaits God's removal of His messengers, and by the look of things in the news, that could happen at any moment! There is no time to waste; go warn you family, friends, and even your enemies while there is still time!

"I tell you,
It’s gonna rain, it's gonna rain,
You better get ready and bear this in mind.
God showed Noah a rainbow sign,
Won't be water, it'll be fire next time."
