PLEASING GOD

There is one thing born again believers and the religious have in common:  both desire to please God.  The main difference between the two, is their motive for wanting to please Him.  Born again believers want to please Him because we know that He loves us (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:8; 1 Jn. 3:2; 4:7, 19; etc.)!  The religious want to please Him out of fear.  Notice the focus:  born again believers see God as our loving Father, while the religious see Him as a harsh, demanding Judge.

So, regardless of the group to which you belong, it is important to know what the Bible says pleases Him.  Here are just twelve of the things that have or will please God:

*   God was pleased with Enoch (Heb. 11:5).

*   God is pleased when He blesses Israel (Num. 24:1).

*   God is pleased that He chose Israel to be His people (1 Sam. 12:22).

*   God was pleased with Solomon's humble prayer (1 Kg. 3:10).

*   God was pleased with David's humility (Ps. 51:1-19).

*   God is pleased when we respect His Law (Isa. 42:21).

*   God is pleased with Jesus (Mt. 3:17; 12:18; 17:5; Col. 1:19; 2 Pet. 1:17; etc.).

*   God was pleased with Christ's obedience (Isa. 53:10).

*   God was pleased to call the Apostle Paul (Gal. 1:15-16).

*   God is pleased with the salvation offered in the Gospel (Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 1:21).

*   God is pleased when we are obedient, merciful, and humble (Mic. 6:7-8).

*   God is pleased with our praise, our good works, and our fellowship with one another (Heb. 13:15-16).

I know you want to please God, but the important question is:  WHY?
