"O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself " (Luke 24:25-27).
In the Gospel of John, these verses specifically say that Jesus literally fulfilled the Scriptures:
John 2:22 - "When therefore He was risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this unto them; and they believed the Scripture, and the Word which Jesus had said."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ps. 16:10; 49:9; Acts 2:27, 31; 13:35]
John 7:38-39, 42 - "He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified. Hath not the Scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?"
[Scripture fulfilled: Pro. 1:23; Jer. 23:5; Isa. 44:3; Mic. 5:2]
John 13:18 - "I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, he that eateth bread with Me hath lifted up his heel against Me."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ps. 41:9]
John 17:12 - "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy name: those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the Scripture might be fulfilled."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ps. 69:25; 109:8]
John 19:24 - "They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, they parted My raiment among them, and for My vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ps. 22:18]
John 19:28 - "After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ps. 69:21]
John 19:33-35, 36-37 - "But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they brake not His legs: but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. For these things were done, that the Scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken. And again another Scripture saith, they shall look on Him Whom they pierced."
[Scripture fulfilled: Ex. 12:46; Ps. 34:20]
The odds of one person fulfilling the dozens of Scripture references to Israel's Messiah, are astronomical! Only one person could fulfill them, and He did! He is risen from the dead, and offers salvation to whosoever will believe in Him!
He did His part; your part is simply to believe!
