THE COMMAND: YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD!
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 - Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 11:1, 13 - Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep His charge, and His statutes, and His judgments, and His commandments, always. - - - And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto My commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul....
Deuteronomy 13:3-4 - You shall not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proves (tests) you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear Him, and keep His commandments, and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him, and cleave unto Him.
Deuteronomy 30:16 - In that I command you this day to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply: and the LORD your God shall bless you in the land where you go to possess it.
Joshua 22:5 - But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and to cleave unto Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Joshua 23:11 - Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love the LORD your God.
Psalm 31:23 - O love the LORD, all you His saints: for the LORD preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards the proud doer.
Psalm 97:10 - You that love the LORD, hate evil: He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 116:1 - I love the LORD, because He has heard my voice and my supplications.
Matthew 22:37 - Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Mark 12:30 - And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment.
Luke 10:27 - And He answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
THE MOTIVATION: HE HAS EARNED OUR LOVE!
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 - But God commended (demonstrated; proved) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Corinthians 15:1-6 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved - - - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures: and that He was seen by Cephas (Peter), then by the twelve: after that, He was seen by more than five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain (alive) unto this present, but some are fallen asleep (some have died).
1 John 3:1-2 - Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God: therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
1 John 4:19 - We love Him, because He first loved us.
