YOU ARE TO SEEK WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE!
Matthew 6:33 - ...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness....
Note: Righteousness is the state of perfection necessary to have fellowship with God. It is the state of being He created mankind to possess. What fellowship does light have with darkness. Paul wrote it this way: 2 Corinthians 6:14 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?
HOW DOES ONE GET GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS?
Romans 4:3-5 - For what saith the Scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace (not counted as a gift), but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Note: Grace is, in this text, an unearnable, unmerited, free gift; it is given due to the character of the giver, and not the worthiness of the recipient.
WHAT JUSTIFIES GOD'S PARDON AND
DECLARATION A SINNER IS RIGHTEOUS?
John 3:16-18 - For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God.
Romans 5:6-8 - For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth (demonstrated) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:18-21 - And all things are of God, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God (by faith) in Him.
