RIGHTEOUSNESS
Definition: According to The Kings Bible Dictionary:
1. Purity of heart . . . conformity of heart and life to the divine law. It includes all we call justice, honesty and virtue . . . .
2. Applied to God, the perfection or HOLINESS of His nature.The righteousness of man:
1. "And the LORD commanded us to do ALL these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, IF we observe to do ALL these commandments before the LORD our God, as He hath commanded us" (Deut. 6:24-25).
2. "But we are ALL as an unclean thing, and ALL our righteousnesses are as filthy rags . . . " (Isa. 64:6).
3. "As it is written, There is NONE righteous, no, NOT ONE" (Rom. 3:10).
Note: The Law was not intended to provide a way to be holy, but was given to reveal that man cannot, of himself, become holy (Gal. 3:21-25).
God has offered us His righteousness:
1. "In His [Jesus'] days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name whereby He shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jer. 23:6).
2. "The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God" (Jer. 51:10).
3. "For He hath made Him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Cor. 5:21).
It is up to you:
1. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Mt. 6:33).
2. "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith" (Rom. 1:16-17).
3. "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Rom. 4:5).
Jesus provides salvation to ALL who will believe in Him!
