WE DO NOT HAVE A MINDLESS FAITH

In Paul's short epistle to the Church at Philippi, he refers to the Christian faith as being more than just an emotional response to the Gospel; he focuses upon our faith as being one of thought, one which involves our intellect.  Much like Psalm 119, which focuses upon believers thinking and meditating on God's Word, Philippians calls upon believers to not only think, but to think alike regarding the things of the Lord.  We are to humble ourselves and let God's Word be the basis of our understanding of the truth.  He mentions the mind ten times in 104 verses.  They are:

"Only let your conversation be as it becometh the Gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel" (Phil. 1:27).

"Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind" (Phil. 2:2).

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves" (Phil. 2:3).

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5).

"Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you" (Phil. 3:15).

"Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing" (Phil. 2:16).

"Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things" (Phil. 2:19).

"I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord" (Phil. 4:2).

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:7).

Humility, unity, and truth, will be the mark of all soul-winning churches.
