FROM THE BOOK OF ROMANS

BAD NEWS FROM GOD'S WORD:  GOD JUDGES SINNERS 

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:  there is none that doeth good, no, not one" (3:10, 12).  "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (3:23).  "For the wages of sin is death" (6:23a).

 

GOOD NEWS FROM GOD'S WORD:  GOD PAID FOR OUR SIN 

" But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (5:8).  "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (6:23b).  "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith" (1:16-17).

 

GREAT NEWS FROM GOD'S WORD:  SALVATION IS BUT A CALL AWAY

"But what saith it? The Word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the Word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (10:8-13).

 

THE BEST NEWS FROM GOD'S WORD:  GOD'S SPIRIT WILL LIVE IN US

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:   By Whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God" (5:1-2).  "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you" (8:1-11).
