FOREHEADS, HANDS, AND HEARTS

Because the human eye is unique to the individual, as are the fingerprints, modern science has developed ways of identifying individuals, using a scan of their eye, or by scanning their hand.  If they are permitted to enter to restricted areas, identification of them by their eye or their hand, grants them access.  But before their data is recorded, their loyalty (their heart) is closely scrutinized by security agents.  In the religious culture of the Jews, they, too, were identified by the wearing of the Word of God as a sign of their love of God.  Here is what Moses wrote:

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:  and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:  and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.  And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes" (Deut. 6:4-8).

As a result, devout Jews, even today, own phylacteries, which are defined, according to Lexic.us, as "either of two small leather cases containing texts from the Hebrew Scriptures (known collectively as tefillin); traditionally worn (on the forehead and the left arm)."  Jesus criticized the Pharisees for making them large so everyone could see how religious they were (Mt. 23:5).  God wants them to honor His Word, even above the honor they give His name (Ps. 138:2)!

It is ironic, that the Jews, being the "main target" of the Antichrist (Dan. 9:27; Mt. 24:15-29; Rev. 12 - 18), will be commanded by the False Prophet, to show they worship (their heart) the Antichrist before they are allowed to wear his name, his mark, or his number, on their forehead or their hand (Rev. 13:15-18)!  Here is what the Apostle John wrote concerning this:

"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship (their heart) the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship (their heart) the image of the beast should be killed.  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.  Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six" (Rev. 13:11-18).
