Our Father (Who) art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS (sins; trespasses),
AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS (those who sin or trespass against us).
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen."
For IF ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But IF ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
(Mt. 6:9-15).
I would like to point out a few things I believe need to be noted:
1. God is also the Father of others; He is not just my Father.
2. When we pray to our Father, it is to be as a child of God.
3. His name is holy. Approach Him with reverence and humility.
4. We are not to act like the worldly, but like our heavenly King.
5. Even though we work for our food, God is to be thanked because He enables us.
6. We are to forgive period. It is not conditional.
7. Our fellowship with God depends upon our willingness to forgive others.
8. If we fail to forgive others, that in itself is sin! We are out of fellowship with God.
9. If we want to be forgiven, then we need to forgive everyone else (Mt. 18:21-35).
10. God will discipline us as His child (Heb. 12:5-8).
11. He may allow Satan to buffet us evil to come if we fail to obey Him (1 Pet. 2:20).
12. God's kingdom, His power, and His glory, are eternal.
Being like Christ is not easy!
But with the Spirit's help, it can be done (Rom. 8:1)!
