Yesterday, I suggested that the Star of David was a picture of Jesus Christ as both the Son of Man, and the Son of God.  Today, I want to show what the Bible says about the Lord being the Son of David.

"The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne" (Ps. 132:11).

"Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.  In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name whereby He shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jer. 23:5-6).

"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.  And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ" (Mt. 1:1, 16).

"And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli; Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David" (Lk. 3:23, 31).

"Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?" (Jn. 7:42).

"Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;  and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead" (Rom. 1:3-4).

"Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel" (2 Tim. 2:8).

Jesus was born of Mary's seed (Gen. 3:15; Mt. 1:16; Lk. 3:23).  Mary was of the lineage of David (Mt. 1:16; Lk. 3:23).  Jesus was born of God (Mt. 1:20; Lk. 1:27-35).
Jesus is both the Son of David and the Son of God!
