RUSSIANS AND THE MUSLIM NATIONS

Have you ever wondered why the Bible associates the area we now know as Russia, with the Muslim nations of the world?  I am not saying I know why for sure, but it may have something to do with a significant event occurring about every thousand years of the world's seven thousand years of biblical history.

Using Ussher's theory that the Creation occurred in about 4000 B.C. as a starting date, the major events would be:  3000 B.C. - The World-wide Flood; 2000 B.C. - The Call of Abraham; 1000 B.C. - The Anointing of David as King of Israel; "Zero" - The Crucifixion of Christ; and A.D. 1000 - The Schism Between the Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Before I address "my guess" concerning the Russians and the Muslims, I would like to suggest that for A.D. 2000 - The Second Coming of Christ; and for A.D. 3000 - The New Heaven and the New Earth.  Remember, all of these millennia are approximates in relationship to the events.

In the year A.D. 1054, The Bishop of Rome (the Pope), and the Bishop of Constantinople (the Patriarch) excommunicated each other.  Forty-two years later, the first of the Crusades began, conducted by the Roman Catholic Church, against Muslims, pagans, heretics, and "people under the ban of excommunication."  Five hundred years later, Constantinople was conquered by the Muslims and became the capital of the Ottoman Empire.

While the nation of Russia can only be historically connected to Turkey due to its connection to the Eastern Orthodox Church, that may be enough for it to align itself philosophically with Turkey, along with the Muslim nations of Iran, Libya, and Sudan, all of which are listed in Ezekiel 38:1-6.  For an explanation of this, see:  http://www.middletownbiblechurch.org/proph/ezek38.htm).

It appears that both religion and politics will create these "strange bed-fellows!"
