TRUTH ALWAYS AGREES WITH GOD

We often think of things in the context of them being opposites (Males and Females; Black and White; Day and Night; Rich and Poor; etc.).  However, there is one "pair" that should never be thought of as extremes on a single continuum:  Truth and Lie.  Even though we like to call it "fudging the truth," "exaggerating the story," or even call it "telling little white lies," we are, nevertheless, lying.  That is why, when taking an oath in a courtroom, we are asked to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.  Missing facts, or adding untruthful statements are not acceptable.  Scripture records this same thing with regard to John's testimony as given in the Book of Revelation.  He wrote:

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book" (Rev. 22:18-19).

Truth is always accurate, it always includes all the facts, and it is always in line with what God says.  The Scripture even calls Jesus "The Truth" (Jn. 14:6).  Other passages describe His that way, as well (Jn. 1:14, 17; 5:33; etc.).  God cannot lie, according to Titus 1:2 and Numbers 23:19.

Again, when our words are in harmony with the way God views things, we are telling the truth.  All other speech is untruthful, inaccurate, and basically, sin!  When we lie, whether by omitting facts or exaggerating them, we are acting like Satan!  Jesus said,

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" (Jn. 8:44).

Let every word that comes out of your mouth be truthful.
That way, when you witness for Jesus, people will listen!
