THE SERPENT IS STILL SPEAKING TODAY

When Adam decided to believe only what his eyes told him (much like modern scientists), and he saw Eve did not die from eating the forbidden fruit, his action showed that he did not believe God is truly God, having authority over him (Gen. 3:1-6).  It was true irony that "the father of lies" (Jn. 8:44) convinced Adam that it was God who was lying!  The first knowledge Adam and Eve "gained," was that they were naked (Gen. 3:7)!  Immediately, they covered their nakedness and tried to hide from their Creator (Gen. 3:7-8)!

Here we are, a few millennia later, and nothing has changed.  Men prefer to believe "the liar," rather than believe the Gospel, the truth that Jesus was sent by God, His Father (Jn. 3:16), to die for us on a cross, to be buried for three days (Mt. 12:40), and to be raised from the dead to rule and reign over His creation (1 Cor. 15:3-4; Mt. 5:35; 22:44; Acts 2:35; 7:49; Heb. 1:13; 10:13; etc.).  And just as was the case with Adam's behavior, once he doubted God, the same has been true ever since.  Psalms 14 describes the way of life for those who deny God:

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? (Who eats) up My people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD" (Ps. 14:1-4).

Today, none seek God; even though God draws them to faith in His Son (Jn. 6:44)!  Today, religions have taken hold of most of humanity, with their "work your way to heaven" schemes.  Those who are caught up in religion, at least know that they need to be forgiven; they at least are aware of their sinfulness.  Agnostics may be aware, but they don't care enough to seek God.  Atheists are a god unto themselves.  I have always been amazed at how Atheists believe in evolution, with its "survival of the fittest" foundation, and yet they do not simply eliminate the religious so that they can be free to feed their own lusts!  Perhaps it is a numbers thing. 

The Word of God tells born again believers that we will not "fit in," we will not be accepted by the vast majority of people, including many who call themselves Christians, even apostles (Jn. 15:19; Rev. 2:2).  Even members of our own families will despise us (Mt. 10:36); perhaps because they mistakenly believe born again believers should be perfect, and they certainly see our flaws.  Oh well, if they are foolish enough to reject Jesus because they are looking at us instead of at Him, what can we do? 

Soon, we will all be gone to be with the Lord.  Then, the lost will not have either our testimony, or our imperfect behavior:  there will be no excuses!  Seeing a billion or so souls "disappear" will either wake them up, or it will "free them up" to do whatever they like (for seven years)!  The Rapture (our removal - Jn. 14:1-3; 1 Thes. 4:16-17; etc.) and the Tribulation (Daniel's Seventieth Week - Dan. 9:27; Mt. 24:3-29; Rev. 6 - 18; etc.) are IMMINENT!
 

 

Today may be the last day one can saved by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ!
