2] But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. (Note: The Jews will control the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies for the first forty-two months of Daniel's Seventieth Week - Dan. 9:27, but Gentiles will only control the outer court).
3] And I will give power unto My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. (Note: Only two men have yet to die, Enoch and Elijah - Gen. 5:24; 2 Kg. 2:11, and yet Scripture says ALL die - Heb. 9:27 - so I am convinced that these two preach the Gospel to Jews and Gentiles for forty-two months).
4] These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.(Note: Compare Zech. 4:11-14).
5] And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. (Note: They have this power for only forty-two months - see verse seven).
6] These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (Note: Compare 1 Kg. 12:1).
7] And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. (Note: The Antichrist will be indwelt by Satan following his mortal head wound - no where does it say the Antichrist himself ascends from the pit - Rev. 12:9; 13:3-4).
8] And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (Note: Because the chapter begins with the Two Witnesses measuring the Temple, and because the Antichrist commits the Abomination in the Temple in Jerusalem, the city is Jerusalem. In Jer. 23:14, Jerusalem is called "Sodom").
9] And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. (Note: ALL peoples, including Jews who have yet to recognize Antichrist, see their dead bodies - this has only been possible since the invention of communication satellites).
10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. (Note: The entire world, including Israel, celebrates over the death of the Two Witnesses, because they, more than any other people, hate the Gospel of Jesus).
11] And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. (Note: If the whole world saw their dead bodies, then the whole world became afraid).
12] And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. (Note: The whole world heard the voice - the whole world saw them ascend - the whole world were God's enemies. In just two chapters (Rev. 13), the eyes of Israel are opened and they realize their error - Rom. 11:25-26. The last forty-two months are known as the Great Tribulation - Jer. 30:7; Dan. 9:27; Mt. 24:15; Rev. 13:5-18).
The reason God uses the Two Witnesses, is because born again believers are gone!
The Tribulation could begin any day; accept Jesus as Lord and Savior while there is time!
