WHAT DOES BEING "IN CHRIST" MEAN?

When a person says he is "in Christ," what does he mean?  How does one get to be "in Christ?"  The answer is not all that complicated.  The Holy Spirit, according to John 16:8-15, convinces a person of three things:

1) He convinces him that he is a sinner needing a Savior (Rom. 3:10, 23);
2) He convinces him that Christ's sinlessness is freely available to him (2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 2:8);
3) He convinces him that without faith in Jesus, he faces God's judgment (Jn. 16:8-11; Heb. 9:27).

He then has a choice:  believe what the Holy Spirit has revealed to him and call upon Jesus to be his Savior and Lord (Rom. 10:9-10), or reject Him and His sacrifice for him, only to spend his eternity in the Lake of Fire prepared for Satan and his angels (Mt. 25:31; Rev. 20:10).  If he chooses to believe the truth and places his trust in Jesus, he is given eternal life (Jn. 3:15)!  He becomes a child of God simply by believing in Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:26)!

One might ask, "What happens to me when I accept Christ?"  You will:

Become justified (just as if I had not sinned) - Rom. 3:24.
Be free from God's condemnation - Rom. 8:1.
Be free from religious legalism - Rom. 8:2.
Be forever joined to God as His child - Rom. 8:39.
Be sanctified (set apart unto God) - 1 Cor. 1:2.
Become wise, holy, and redeemed (bought out of slavery to sin) - 1 Cor. 1:30.
Be forever joined to God, your Father - Gal. 3:26.
Be considered already seated with God in heaven - Eph. 2:6.
Become useful to God and His work - Eph. 2:10.
Be considered perfect, holy, righteous - Col. 1:28.
Become grateful for God's love - 1 Th. 5:18.
Become strong in God's service - 2 Ti. 2:1).

Believe in Jesus and you need not fear death.
Reject Him and you will die twice!
