GOD'S ULTIMATE GOAL FOR YOU!

GOD'S ULTIMATE GOAL FOR US:
THAT WE BE LIKE GOD!

Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness:  and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.  So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

Genesis 5:1-2 - This is the book of the generations of Adam.  In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him; male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

WHEN ADAM SINNED,
HE CEASED BEING LIKE GOD!

John 3:3-7Jesus answered and said unto him (Nicodemus), Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  Nicodemus said unto Him, How can a man be born when he is old?  Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh (physical birth) is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit (Spiritual birth) is spirit.  Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again.

John 4:23-24 - But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:  for the Father seeks such to worship Him.  God is Spirit:  and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Colossians 2:13-14 - And you, being dead (spiritually dead) in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has He quickened (made alive again) together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (the Law) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross....

JESUS, THE EXPRESS IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD,
BECAME LIKE YOU AND ME!

Romans 8:3 For what the Law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.

Philippians 2:5-8 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

2 Corinthians 5:21For He (His Father) has made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness (the likeness) of God in Him.

Hebrews 1:1-3 - God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, by Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Note:  Adam died spiritually that day, the very instant he ceased trusting God, and partook of the forbidden fruit (Gen. 2:16-17).  Adam died physically at the age of 930 (Gen. 5:4-5).  Cain, Abel, and Seth were not born in the image and likeness of God, but in the image and likeness of their father, Adam (Gen. 5:3).  That is why Nicodemus, and every human being since Adam, needs to be born again spiritually.  That is also demonstrated by the fact that Jesus took on the likeness of man, becoming sin for us!

ALL WHO ARE BORN AGAIN BY FAITH IN JESUS,
HAVE YET TO BECOME LIKE GOD; WE STILL SIN!

NOTE THE PRESENT TENSE WORDING BELOW!

Romans 7:14-24 - For we know that the Law is spiritual:  but I am carnal, sold under sin.  For that which I do I allow not:  for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do IIf then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the Law that it is good.  Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in meFor I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing:  for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find notFor the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I doNow if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in meI find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.  For I delight in the Law of God after the inward man:  but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my membersO wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

THE CHANGE NECESSARY SHALL TAKE PLACE!

1 Corinthians 15:50-55 -  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.  Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:  for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is your sting?  O grave, where is your victory?

1 John 3:1-2Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God:  therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.  Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be:  but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

THANK GOD FOR GIVING UP HIS SON,
TO SAVE SINNERS LIKE YOU AND ME!
COME LORD JESUS!
