JESUS WARNS OF GOD'S JUDGMENT: TWO BIBLICAL EXAMPLES
Luke 17:26-29 - Jesus said, "And AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF LOT; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all."
NOAH - Genesis 6:5-8 - "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them. But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the LORD."
LOT - Genesis 19:12-13, 19 - "And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? Sons-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: for we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it....Behold now, Thy servant hath found GRACE in Thy sight, and Thou hast magnified Thy MERCY, which Thou hast showed unto me in saving my life...."
GOD OFFERS SALVATION AS A FREE GIFT
Ephesians 2:4-8 - "But God, who is rich in MERCY, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ (by GRACE ye are saved;), and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His GRACE in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by GRACE are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God!"
GRACE AND MERCY DEFINED
GRACE: "God's Riches At Christ's Expense" - "Getting something you don't deserved!"
MERCY: "Making Everything Right; Cleansing You" - "Not getting what you deserve!"
