THE DESIRE TO BE LIKE GOD!

TO FREE ONESELF FROM ACCOUNTABILITY TO GOD'S AUTHORITY!

Isaiah 14:12-14 - How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!  how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:  I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

 TO RECOGNIZE GOD'S AUTHORITY, AND DESIRE TO PLEASE HIM! 

Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things (all that you need to survive) shall be added unto you.

Colossians 1:9-10 - For this cause we also . . . pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk (live out your daily life) worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:1 - Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk (live out your daily life) and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.  

HOW DOES ONE BECOME RIGHTEOUS;

THAT IS, TO BECOME LIKE GOD?

NOT BY RELIGIOUS WORKS:  IT IS A GIFT FROM GOD!

Romans 1:16-17 - For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Gentile; non-Jew).  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:  as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 3:19-22 - Now we know that whatsoever the Law saith, it saith to them who are under the Law:  that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.  Therefore by the deeds of the Law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight:  for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.  But now the righteousness of God without (apart from) the Law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.

Romans 10:1-3 - Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 - For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:  not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us....

1 John 3:1-2 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons (children) of God:  therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.  Beloved, now are we the sons (children) of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

DESIRE TO SERVE HIM OUT OF GRATITUDE!
