AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH AND LOT!
Genesis 6:5-8 - And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented (grieved) the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth (grieves) Me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 18:20-23; 19:15-17 - And the LORD said, Because the cry (the outcry against the clamor) of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto Me; and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. And Abraham drew near, and said, Will You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? - - - And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters, who are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for your life; look not behind you, neither stay in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed.
Luke 17:26-30 - And as it was in the days of Noe (Noah), so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe (Noah) entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man (Jesus) is revealed (at His Second Coming).
Note: The wrath of God being poured out in both cases, was restrained until Noah and Lot were safely removed; Noah was lifted up about the Flood in the ark, and Lot was removed up into the mountains, with the destruction of the cities then taking place in the valley below. Many Bible students, including me, see these examples as pictures of the removal of the Church prior to the Tribulation (the seven year outpouring of God's wrath prior to Christ's Second Coming.
PAUL'S DESCRIPTION OF THE WORLD IN HIS DAY!
Romans 1:22-32 - Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up* to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up* unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet (suitable). And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over* to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (acceptable); being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity (depravity); whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable (stubborn), unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
*Note: These three verb phrases are exactly the same in the Greek: paradidomi autos paradidomi. I believe that what we have here is the first example of "three strikes and you're out!"
PAUL'S PROPHECY CONCERNING THE LAST DAYS!
2 Timothy 3:1-5 - This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent (without self control), fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
