WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

THE GOSPEL:  DEFINED!

Romans 1:16-17 - For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ:  for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Gentile).  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:  as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

THE GOSPEL:  PRESENTED IN THE BOOKS KNOWN AS THE GOSPELS!

Matthew 1:21;16:21 - And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name JESUS:  for He shall save His people from their sins. - - - From that time forth began Jesus to show unto His disciples, how that He must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Mark 1:1; 9:31 - The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God - - - For He taught His disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; and after that He is killed, He shall rise the third day.

Luke 1:76-77; 18:32-33 - For He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:  and they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: and the third day He shall rise again.

John 8:24; 10:17-18 - I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins:  for if you believe not that I AM, you shall die in your sins. - - - Therefore does My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.  No man takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.  I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.  This commandment have I received of My Father.

THE GOSPEL:  PREACHED BY PETER!

Acts 2:22-24 - You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:  Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:  Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death:  because it was not possible that He should be holden of (held by) it.

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand;  by which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:  and that He was seen of Cephas (by Peter), then of the twelve:  after that, He was seen of above (by more than) five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present (this day), but some are fallen asleep (have died).

THE GOOD NEWS!

Romans 10:9-13 (according to my understanding) - If you shall (publicly) confess with your mouth (faith in) the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes unto righteousness (and is declared righteous by God); and with the mouth confession (of your faith) is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes in Him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek (Gentile):  for the same Lord over all is rich (in mercy and grace) unto all who call upon Him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
