MY UNDERSTANDING OF CHRIST'S GREAT COMMISSION!

MATTHEW 28:18-20  HARMONIZED

WITH THE REST OF SCRIPTURE!

And Jesus (after He had risen from the grave - v. 6) came (to Galilee - v. 16) and spoke unto them (the eleven - v. 16), saying, "All power (Greek exousia -authority) is given unto Me in heaven and on earth.  Go ye therefore (Therefore, I am commanding that you go), and teach (Greek matheteuo - make disciples which requires teaching the Gospel, the only message with the power to produce saving faith - Romans 1:16; 10:17) all nations, baptizing (Greek - baptizo meaning to immerse) them (those who believe the Gospel are to be immersed in water, a symbol of their being baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ - Galatians 3:26-27) in the name of (as the representative of - 2 Corinthians 5:20-21) the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you (love God and love your neighbor - Matthew 22:37-40): and, lo (Greek - idou - behold), I am with you always, even unto the end of the world (Greek - aion - age).  Amen."

Note:  The order of the text is as follows:  
           1.  Go to all nations.
           2.  Proclaim the Gospel.
           3.  Baptize believers.
           4.  Disciple them.

When you look at the world around you,

You become distressed!

When you look within yourself,

You become depressed!

But when you look to Jesus,

You experience His rest!

SALVATION DEFINED!

SALVATION:  FORGIVENESS OF SINS AND

ADOPTION INTO THE FAMILY OF GOD!

Ephesians 1:7 - (We believe in Jesus) in Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace [God's Riches At Christ's Expense]....

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace  are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:  not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 8:15-16 - For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God....

Ephesians 1:3-5 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:  according as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:  having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will....

THE REASON GOD FORGIVES OUR SINS!

John 3:16-18 - God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through (faith in) Him might be saved.  He that believes in Him is not condemned:  but He that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God.

Romans 5:6-8 - For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. . . . but God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel (the message of good news) which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved, . . . For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:  and that He was seen by Peter, then by the twelve:  after that, He was seen by more than five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present day, but some have died.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 - Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:  we pray you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God.  For His Father made Jesus to be sin for us, Who had no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God (by faith) in Him.

THOSE WHO BELIEVE THESE THINGS,

ARE BOTH HUMBLED AND GRATEFUL!

THE ANTICHRIST!

THE ANTICHRIST AND ANTICHRISTS!

1 John 2:18-22 - Little children, it is the last time:  and as you have heard that (the) Antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.  They went out from (having fellowship among) us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us:  but they went out, that they might be made manifest (exposed) that they were not all of us.  But you have an unction (an anointing) from the Holy One,* and you know all things.  I have not written unto you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.  Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ?  He is (an) antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son.

Note:  *  "The Holy One" - see John 14:26 which says - But the Comforter, Who is the Holy Ghost (Spirit), Whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 John 4:1-3 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:  because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  Hereby know you the Spirit of God:  every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of Antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

THE FUTURE PRINCE OF ROME!

Daniel 9:24-27 - Seventy weeks* are determined upon thy people (Israel) and upon thy holy city (Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.  Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and to build Jerusalem, until the Messiah, the Prince, shall be seven weeks,* and threescore and two weeks:* the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.  And after threescore and two weeks* shall Messiah be cut off (killed), but not for Himself:**  and the people of the prince that shall come*** shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:* and in the midst of the week* he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Notes:  * "Week" - These refer to periods of seven years.  We know this because the last verse above declares that the covenant will be broken halfway through the "week."  This halfway point is defined as being:  "1260 days" - Revelation 11:3; 12:6 - "42 months" - Revelation 11:2; 13:5 - "A time, times, and a half time" where "time" equals one year - Daniel 7:25; 12:7; Revelation 12:14.
** "Not for Himself" - see 1 Corinthians 15:3 - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures....  Also see:  Romans 5:6-8; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; 1 Thessalonians 5:10. 
*** "The prince that shall come" - Because he will be from the people who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in A.D. 70, the Antichrist will be from the former Roman Empire.

THE FIRST BEAST OF REVELATION THIRTEEN!

Revelation 13:1-9 - And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.  And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon (Satan - see Revelation 12:9; 20:2) gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.  And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed:  and all the world wondered after the beast.  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast:  and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast?  Who is able to make war with him?  And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.*  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them:  and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  If any man has an ear, let him hear.  

Note: * "To continue forty and two months" - Because this is in the "midst of the week" - see Daniel 9:27 - the Antichrist will finish his seven-year goal of ruling the world.  And like all those who oppose God, he will be destroyed!

Revelation 19:20; 20:10 - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a Lake of Fire burning with brimstone. . . . And the devil that deceived them was cast into the Lake of Fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.

TRUST IN JESUS AND HAVE

YOUR NAME IN HIS BOOK OF LIFE!

REJECT JESUS AND SPEND

ETERNITY IN THE LAKE OF FIRE!

MAN'S PROBLEM: GOD'S SOLUTION!

ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE SINNERS, AND

THE CONSEQUENCE OF SIN IS DEATH!

Ezekiel 18:4, 20 - Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine:  the soul that sins, it shall die. . . . The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son...!

Romans 3:10, 23 - There is none righteous (sinless), no, not one . . . . All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (of God's likeness)!

Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned!

Romans 6:23 - For the wages of (payment for) sin is death...!

BUT EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SINNERS,

ALMIGHTY GOD OFFERS TO SAVE US!

Romans 10:9-10, 13 - IF you shall publicly confess your faith in the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes and receives the Lord's righteousness; and with the mouth, confession of faith in Him results in salvation.  For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes in Him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile:  for the same Lord is rich (in mercy and grace) unto all that call upon Him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!

2 Corinthians 5:19-21 - God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the Word of reconciliation.  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:  we plead with you in Christ's stead, be reconciled to God.  For He has made Jesus to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God (by faith) in Him!

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of your own doing: it is the gift of God:  not of works, so that no one can boast!

GOD DOES NOT WANT ANYONE TO GO TO HELL;

IF ANYONE DOES GO TO HELL, IT WILL BE 

BECAUSE HE REJECTS GOD'S GIFT OF SALVATION!
