WHEN JESUS WAS ASKED, WHO IS GOD, HE REPLIED I AM!

GOD'S NAME IS I AM!

Exodus 3:13-15 - And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is His name?  What shall I say unto them?  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:*  and He said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you.  And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you:  this is My name forever, and this is My memorial unto all generations.  

*Note:  I AM THAT I AM - The King James Version translators added the word "THAT" to their version of the Bible, but the actual Hebrew hayah hayah is better rendered "I am I AM."  The Orthodox Jewish Bible has added the word "WHO" - "I AM WHO I AM."  Notice when His name stands alone in the same passage, it is "I AM,"

THE NEW TESTAMENT IDENTIFIES JESUS AS GOD!

John 1:1, 14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Timothy 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:  God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Hebrews 1:1-3 - God . . . . has in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, by Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high....

JOHN'S GOSPEL IDENTIFIES JESUS AS THE I AM!

John 8:24, 28, 58 - I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins:  for if you believe not that I AM he,* you shall die in your sins. . . . Then said Jesus unto them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I AM he,* and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things. . . . Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

John 13:18-19 - I speak not of you all:  I know whom I have chosen:  but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.  Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, you may believe that I AM he.*

John 18:3-6 - Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.  Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom do you seek?  They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth.  Jesus said unto them, I AM he.*  And Judas also, who betrayed Him, stood with them.  As soon then as He had said unto them, I AM he,* they went backward, and fell to the ground.

*Note:  he - The word "he" is not in the original Greek texts; it was added by the King James Version translators.  There is absolutely no doubt as to the Lord's meaning in John 8:58 above.

WORDS OF COMFORT FROM JESUS, THE I AM!

John 14:1-3, 6 (in my words) - Let not your heart be troubled:  you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many glorious dwelling places:  if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for each of you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I AM, there you may be also. . . . I AM the Way, I AM the Truth, and I AM the Life:  no man comes unto the Father, but by Me.

HE CREATED YOU - YOU CAN TRUST HIM!
