A POSSIBLE EXPLANATION OF MATTHEW 1:1-17!

A POSSIBLE EXPLANATION OF MATTHEW 1:1-17!

[1] The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

[Note:  The number after the name is the generation from Adam].

[2
] Abraham (20th) begat Isaac (21st); and Isaac begat Jacob (22nd); and Jacob begat Judas (23rd) and his brethren;
[3] And Judas begat Phares (24th) and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom (25th); and  Esrom begat Aram (26th);
[4] And Aram begat Aminadab (27th); and Aminadab begat Naasson (28th); and Naasson begat Salmon (29th);
[5] And Salmon begat Booz (30th) of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed (31st) of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse (32nd);
[6] And Jesse begat David (33rd) the king;

and David (33rd) the king begat Solomon (34th) of her that had been the wife of Urias;
[7] And Solomon begat Roboam (35th); and Roboam begat Abia (36th); and Abia begat Asa (37th);
[8] And Asa begat Josaphat (38th); and Josaphat begat Joram (39th); and Joram begat Ozias (40th);
[9] And Ozias begat Joatham (41st); and Joatham begat Achaz (42nd); and Achaz begat Ezekias (43rd);
[10] And Ezekias begat Manasses (44th); and Manasses begat Amon (45th); and Amon begat Josias (46th);
[11] And Josias begat Jechonias (47th) and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

[12] And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias (47th) begat Salathiel (48th); and Salathiel begat Zorobabel (49th);
[13] And Zorobabel begat Abiud (50th); and Abiud begat Eliakim (51st); and Eliakim begat Azor (52nd);
[14] And Azor begat Sadoc (53rd); and Sadoc begat Achim (54th); and Achim begat Eliud (55th);
[15] And Eliud begat Eleazar (56th); and Eleazar begat Matthan (57th); and Matthan begat Jacob (58th);
[16] And Jacob begat Joseph (59th) the husband of Mary (60th), of whom was born (not of Joseph, but was conceived of  the Holy Spirit, as the Only Begotten Son of God) Jesus (61st), Who is called Christ.

[Note:  Mary's father must have been Heli (a.k.a. Eli, Eliakim, Joakim, Joachim) as Luke's genealogy gives Heli as the father of Joseph - see Luke 3:23.  Perhaps Heli was Joseph's father-in-law.

[17
] So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

[Note:  3 x 14 = 42.  Notice that Jesus was not begotten of Joseph, but of Mary and the Holy Spirit!  Also notice that (20-29); (30-39); (40-49); (50-59); + (60 and 61) = 42 generations].

WHILE I AM NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ENOUGH TO BE DOGMATIC ABOUT THIS, I DO BELIEVE THAT ALL "CONTRADICTIONS" IN THE WORD OF GOD, HAVE LOGICAL EXPLANATIONS!
AFTER ALL, THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD!
