THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAITH AND REPENTANCE!

GENUINE SALVATION ALWAYS PRODUCES REPENTANCE!

Luke 24:45-48Then He (Jesus) opened their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  And you are witnesses of these things.

REMISSION OF SINS:

Romans 5:8-9But God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 - Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel (the only message that, when believed, saves - see Romans 1:16) which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved . . . . For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures (remission of sins); and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:  and that He was seen by Peter, then by the twelve:  after that, He was seen by more than five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present day, but some are fallen asleep (have died).

REPENTANCE:

Matthew 3:1-2In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, and saying, Repent:* for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 4:12, 17 - Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, He departed into Galilee . . . . From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent:*  for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Acts 2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent,* and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 17:22, 30 - Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' Hill, and said, You men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious . . . . And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent.*

Revelation 1:18; 2:1, 5 - I am He (the glorified Jesus) that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death . . . . Unto the angel of the Church of Ephesus write; These things says He Who holds the seven stars in His right hand, Who walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks . . . . Remember therefore from where you are fallen, and repent,* and do the first works; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will remove your candlestick out of its place, except you repent.*
