GOD'S TWO PECULIAR GROUPS OF PEOPLE!

THE JEWISH NATION OF ISRAEL!

HEBREW:  CEGULLAH (SEG-OOL-LAH)

Exodus 19:5-6 - Now therefore, if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people:  for all the earth is Mine:  and you shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.  These are the words which you shall speak unto the children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 7:6 - For you are a holy people unto the LORD your God:  the LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy 14:2 - For you are a holy people unto the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a peculiar people unto Himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Deuteronomy 26:18-19 - And the LORD has avouched you this day to be His peculiar people, as He has promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; and to make you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people unto the LORD your God, as He has spoken.

1 Chronicles 29:3 - Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house....

Psalm 135:4 - For the LORD has chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure.

Ecclesiastes 2:8 - I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces:  I got me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.

Malachi 3:17 - And they shall be Mine, says the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him.

GREEK:  PERIOUSIOS (PER-EE-OO-SEE-OS)  

    

1 Peter 2:9-10 - But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him Who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light:  who in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:  who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 

THE CHURCH! 

GREEK:  PERIOUSIOS (PER-EE-OO-SEE-OS)

Titus 2:13-14 - Looking for that Blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;  Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  

A NEW PECULIAR PEOPLE:  THE CHURCH IS MADE UP

OF BOTH JEWISH AND GENTILE BELIEVERS IN CHRIST!

Ephesians 2:8-22 - For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:  it is the gift of God:  not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.  Wherefore remember, that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called the Uncircumcision by those who are called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:  but now in Christ Jesus, you who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  For He is our peace, Who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the Law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace; and that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  and came and preached peace to you who were afar off, and to those who were nigh.  For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.  Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Corner Stone; in Whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord:  in Whom you also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

TRUST IN JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR,

AND SERVE HIM AS YOUR LORD TODAY!
