JESUS DID NOT BECOME GOD'S SON BY HIS MIGHTY WORKS;
HIS MIGHTY WORKS SHOWED THAT HE WAS GOD'S SON!
Matthew 11:20-24 - Then began Jesus to rebuke the cities wherein most of His mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto you, Chorazin! Woe unto you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And you, Capernaum, which is exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.
Luke 19:37-40 - And when Jesus was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; saying, Blessed be the King Who comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto Him, Master, rebuke Your disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
OUR GOOD WORKS DO NOT MAKE US THE CHILDREN OF GOD;
AFTER WE BECOME HIS CHILDREN, WE DO GOOD WORKS!
Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.
Galatians 3:22 - But the Scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the Law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the Law was our school master to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come, we are no longer under a school master. For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:8-10 - For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
Philippians 1:3-7; 2:13 - I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now; being confident of this very thing, that He Who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel, you all are partakers of my grace . . . . For it is God Who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Titus 3:4-7 - But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Whom He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
WE BECOME GOD'S CHILDREN BY HAVING FAITH IN JESUS;
AND GOD LEADS HIS CHILDREN TO DO HIS GOOD WORKS!
