UNDERSTANDING END-TIME PROPHECY!
Daniel 12:1-5 - And at that time shall Michael (the archangel) stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people (Israel): and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time, your people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. But you, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
THE MYSTERY OF END-TIME PROPHECY REVEALED!
"Many shall run to and fro" - Until the early 1800's, mankind was limited in travel to the horse. But in 1825, the first steam driven locomotive, designed and built by George Stephenson, carried over four hundred passengers twenty-five miles. Ironically, modern engine today are still measured in "horse power."
"And knowledge shall be increased" - Similarly, until the early 1800's, communication of knowledge from one place to another, was limited to handwritten correspondence. But in 1844, Samuel F. B. Morse successfully transmitted a message from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore, Maryland.
It was during this same time period, that John Nelson Darby, improving on previous attempts at rightly dividing the Word of God through an approach known as Dispensationalism, presented his seven-dispensations to a congregation in Plymouth England. What made his view significant was two-fold: Darby clearly separated Israel from the Church (one was not a continuation of the other, but they were, and still are, separate identities), and Darby recognized the 1000-year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth, the Millennium, as the seventh dispensation. It was Darby who laid the foundation for understanding the Book of Daniel, the Olivet Discourse (Mt. 24-25; Mk. 13; Lk. 21), and the dispensations of the Church Age (Chapters 2-3), Israel's Time of Jacob's Trouble (Chapters 6-18), the Second Coming of Christ and His Millennial Reign (Chapters 19-20), and the Eternal Kingdom of God (Chapters 21-22) of the Book of Revelation.
THESE PROPHECIES REVEAL TIME IS SHORT!
For nearly 2500 years, Daniel's prophecies were a mystery, but today, we understand that the signs of Christ's return for His Church (Jn. 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:50-54; 1 Th. 4:13-18; etc.) will occur prior to the Seven-year Tribulation, which may begin immediately following the removal of the Church. Now is the time to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior; tomorrow may be too late to avoid the most horrible seven years in this world's history! Trust in Jesus today!
