THE HUMILITY OF JOHN THE BAPTIZER!
Matthew 3:11 - I (John, son of Zacharias and Elisabeth - Lk. 1:5) indeed baptize (immerse; cover) you with water unto repentance (due to your fruit, that is, evidence of your having a change of mind about sin in your life - see Mt. 3:7-10): but He Who comes after me is mightier than I, Whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize (immerse; cover) you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire....
THE HUMILITY OF A GREAT MAN OF FAITH!
Matthew 8:8, 10 - The Centurion (an officer in the Roman Army having authority over 100 men) answered and said (to Jesus), Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. . . . When Jesus heard it, He marvelled, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
THE HUMILITY OF LITTLE CHILDREN!
Matthew 18:3-4 - And (Jesus) said, Verily I say unto you, Except you be converted (to turn around; to have a change of mind), and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
HUMILITY IS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT GOD'S GIFT!
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace (the unearnable favor of God) are you saved through faith (that Jesus died for your sins; that He was buried; and that He rose from the dead three days later - see Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-6); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of (religious) works, lest any man should boast.
THE HUMILITY OF OUR GREAT ROLE MODEL!
Philippians 2:5-11 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
HUMILITY AND GRATITUDE ARE THE
EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE FAITH IN CHRIST!
