THE TETRAGRAMMATON

HVHY - When read from right to left; YHVH when used in an English sentence.  These four Hebrew letters, when presented together in this order, are known as the Tetragrammaton.  The names of the letters are Yod - He - Vav - He, and are pronounced Yode - Hey - Vav - Hey.  Many "scholars" substitute waw for vav, and when they ad vowels, present the word as Yahwah (at least they get the Yod right).  However, when the Jewish people added vowels, the result was Yehovah.   Adding to the confusion, were the English translators who replaced the Yod with a "J" to make the word Jehovah.  And, if that were not confusing enough, the King James Bible translates YHVH "LORD" 6510 times, God 4 times, and Jehovah 7 times.  Ironically, Genesis 22:14; Judges 6:24; Isaiah 12:2; and 26:4, contain both LORD and Jehovah in them.

While not all references in which YHVH appears as "LORD" can be proven to refer to the pre-incarnate Son of God, many do.  In Genesis 32:22-30, Jacob wrestles with a man, and afterward, makes this statement:

Genesis 32:30 - And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:  for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
  
In Judges 13:1-22, a man named Manoah spoke with "the angel of the LORD," and afterward, made this declaration:

Judges 13:22 - And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

Neither could be true statements as the Word of God clearly states that no man has ever seen God (referring to God, the Father).  The following verses declare this truth:

John 1:18 - No man has seen God at any time; the Only Begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

1 John 4:12 - No man has seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us.

JESUS, GOD MANIFEST IN THE FLESH,

IS CALLED LORD OVER 700 TIMES!

JESUS IS GOD:

John 1:1-3, 14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.   The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. . . . And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 20:28-29 - And Thomas answered and said unto Jesus, My Lord and my God.   Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed:  blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Philippians 2:5-8 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

1 Timothy 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:  God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Hebrews 1:1-3 - God, who at sundry (various) times and in divers manners (different ways) spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, by Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

IF THE BIBLE CALLS JESUS LORD,

WHY DO SO MANY FAIL TO SAY SO

WHEN PRESENTING THE GOSPEL?

Acts 16:31 - And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved....

Romans 10:9-13 - That IF you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek (non-Jew; Gentile):  for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

NOTE:  The New Testament uses the phrase

"the Lord Jesus" 58 times!  FIFTY-EIGHT!
