THE ROCK, A GRAIN, OR GRAINS OF SAND

Jesus repeatedly told His disciples that before His Second Coming, He would suffer and be rejected (Mt. 16:21; Mk. 8:31; Lk. 17:25; etc.).  He also described what the world would be like when He returned:
"as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man.  They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed" (Lk. 17:26-30).
In other words, life will go on as it always has; men will be focused upon themselves, and there will be a total disregard for God and His will.  Genesis 6:5 says, "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."  In fact, the Word describes man as living according to what is "right in his own eyes," five times (Deut. 12:8; Jud. 17:6; 21:25; Prov. 12:15; 21:2)!

For the last two days, I have tried to show that there are only two "foundations" upon which man can "build his life":  he either lives with the solid foundation of Jesus Christ as the Rock (Dan. 2:44-45;  Rom. 9:33; 1 Cor. 3:11; 10:4; 1 Pet. 2:8; etc.), or he lives his life founded upon one or more "grains of sand."  Man is either a god unto himself (a single grain), or he joins together with other "grains of sand," to form "man-made concrete" (religions)!

Religion is man's attempt to avoid the negative, and to gain the positive.  By religious works, man tries to appease a god he fears, and to receive favor from his god, consisting of health, wealth, and power.  Religion does not work!  If it did, the Jews would not need a Savior.  Catholics would not need to say "I hope so," when asked if they will go to heaven when they die.  And Muslims would not need to kill everyone who refuses to worship their angry, hateful god.

Trust the Rock, not your individual grain, or even collective grains, for Jesus said,                 "No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (Jn. 14:6)!!!!!!!
