DAY, HOUR, NO! SEASON, YES!

Using Daniel 9:24-27 and Revelation chapters four through nineteen as foundational, I would like to make some observations about the Olivet Discourse (Mt. 24 - 25).  I believe the two chapters are to be understood chronologically.  Chapter Twenty-four:

*  The destruction of the Temple occurred in A.D. 70 (24:1-2).
*  The disciples wanted to know when Jesus would return, and the current age would end (24:3).
*  Prior to Christ's return, these things will occur:  "the beginning of sorrows" (24:3-8).
    - There will be many who claim to be Israel's Messiah (24:4-5; Jn. 5:43).
    - Israel will "hear of" wars and rumors of wars, but not experience them (24:6-7).
    - The world will experience famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes (24:7).

*  THEN:
    - Messianic Jews will be persecuted in synagogues (24:8-14; Mk. 13:9; Lk. 21:12).
    - The Abomination of Desolation opens Israel's eyes (24:15; Dan. 9:27; Rom. 11:25).

*  THEN:
    - ALL Israel, now saved, flee persecution (24:16-22; Dan. 9:27; Rom. 11:26).

*  THEN:
    - Antichrist will attempt to entice saved Israel to come out of hiding (24:23-26).

*  THEN:
    - Christ will return in glory, and gather His people (24:27-31)!

*  A PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE - (Mt. 24:32-36).
    - Christ's return is guaranteed (24:34-35).
    - When He will return remains a mystery (24:36).
    - The world will be like it was in Noah's day (24:37-44).
    - The Lord will judge His people (24:45-51).

*  NOTE:  Chapter Twenty-five is also in chronological order.  Notice the nine times a verse begins with "THEN" (25:1, 7, 16, 24, 34, 37, 41, 44, 45).

Watch for the wickedness of Noah's day, and the homosexuality of Lot's day!
Also see Luke 17:22-37.
