THE GOSPEL REVEALS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
Romans 1:16-17 - "...I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the (Gentile). For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."
THE GOSPEL IN ITS SIMPLEST FORM
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures...."
SALVATION IS BASED UPON GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS
Matthew 6:33 - "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."Romans 3:22 - "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference."
1 Corinthians 1:30-31 - "But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:21 - "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
OUR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS CANNOT SAVE US
Isaiah 64:6 - "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags...."Romans 3:10 - "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one...."
Romans 10:3 - "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."
BEING DECLARED RIGHTEOUS IS BEING DECLARED HOLY
1 Peter 1:15-16 - "But as He Who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."[Note: Righteousness is defined in a broad sense as: "The state of him who is as he ought to be in God's eyes; righteousness, the condition whereby we are acceptable to God." In other words, His righteousness, which is by faith in Christ, makes one holy!]
