PRINCIPLES IN INTERPRETING
THE WORD OF GOD!
1. IF IT IS WRITTEN IN THE WORD OF GOD, IT IS TRUE.
2. IF YOU BELIEVE THERE IS A CONTRADICTION IN THE WORD OF GOD, YOU HAVE FAILED TO PROPERLY INTERPRET WHAT GOD HAS TO SAY ON THE SUBJECT.
3. ALL SCRIPTURE MUST BE INTERPRETED BY CONTEXT. IN WHICH DISPENSATION DOES THE TEXT APPEAR? TO WHOM WAS IT WRITTEN? HOW IS THE PERSON OR ARE THE PERSONS TO WHOM THE WORD IS WRITTEN UNIQUE FROM OTHERS IN THE BIBLE?
4. WHAT DOES GOD'S WORD HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE SUBJECT IN OTHER PASSAGES?
5. THE FACT THAT THE SUBJECT APPEARS TO APPLY DIFFERENTLY TO ONE GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM OTHER GROUPS, INDICATES THE TRUTH IS SPECIFIC TO A SINGLE GROUP AND NOT TO ALL HUMANITY.
6. NO VERSION OF THE BIBLE IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ACCURATE; THE SAME WORD IS OFTEN USED TO MEAN DIFFERENT THINGS IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS. "MEET" CAN REFER TO AN ENCOUNTER, OR SOMETHING FITTING OR SUITABLE.
7. ALL SCRIPTURE IN THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGES IS TO BE ACCEPTED AS TRUE OVER THOSE TRANSLATED IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE.
8. ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED (INSPIRED), AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, AND FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS; AS LONG AS ONE CONSIDERS ONE THROUGH SEVEN ABOVE!
9. GOD'S WORD IS USELESS IF IT IS NOT READ AND APPLIED TO ONE'S LIFE.
10. IT IS FROM GOD'S WORD THAT ONE RECEIVES THE FAITH TO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL AND BE SAVED. THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION. THE GOSPEL TELLS US THAT JESUS, GOD'S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, DIED FOR OUR SINS JUST AS THE SCRIPTURES FORETOLD HE WOULD. THE GOSPEL DESCRIBES HIS BURIAL IN DETAIL. AND THE GOSPEL TELLS US THAT HIS FATHER RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD, ALSO AS THE SCRIPTURES FORETOLD.
DO YOU BELIEVE?
IF YOU TRULY DO,
TELL OTHERS!
