THE FEASTS OF THE LORD WHICH WERE
LITERALLY FULFILLED AT HIS FIRST COMING!
[My understanding of Leviticus 23]
THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST!
Leviticus 23:4-5 - These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at evening is the LORD's Passover.
John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world.
1 Corinthians 5:7 - For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us....
THE BURIAL OF CHRIST!
Leviticus 23:6 - And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread....
John 6:35 - And Jesus said unto them, I am the Bread of Life….
1 Corinthians 5:8 - Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the Unleavened Bread of sincerity and truth.
[Note: Leaven is always a symbol for sin in the Scriptures. Jesus was buried, having died innocent of all sin (See 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; etc.). Because He was sinless, death could not hold Him (See Acts 2:24).]
THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST!
Leviticus 23:10 - When you have come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then you shall bring a sheaf of the First Fruits of your harvest unto the priest....
Matthew 27:52-53 - And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after His Resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
1 Corinthians 15:20, 23 - But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the First Fruits of them that slept. . . . But every man in his own order: Christ the First Fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
PENTECOST: THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH!
Leviticus 23:15-16 - And you shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete: even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days (Pentecost); and you shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. . . .
Acts 2:1-4 - And when the Day of Pentecost was fully come, they (Christ's disciples; 120 souls) were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[Note: The Feast of Pentecost was unique in that it included leaven (See Leviticus 23:17). The two loaves represent the Jewish believers in Christ, and the Gentile believers; both of whom are saved while yet sinners (Romans 5:8; 7:15-25; 1 John 1:8-10; etc.). Romans 3:28-29 -says: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without (apart from) the deeds of the Law. Is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.]
JESUS WILL LITERALLY FULFILL THE REMAINING
THREE FEASTS, WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH
THE EVENTS SURROUNDING HIS SECOND COMING!
The fulfillment of the remaining feasts, the Feast of Trumpets, the Feast of the Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles, is not clear as yet. Just as the first four were not understood until after they occurred, I believe the same to be true for the last three. "Religious experts" dogmatically declare their interpretation as fact, but to be honest, they are simply making "educated guesses."
I too have some thoughts on their fulfillment, but remind you, they are just guesses.
The Feast of Trumpets (plural) may very well be fulfilled by two almost simultaneous events: The Rapture of the Church (John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17), and the Lord's official regathering of Jews in the land of Israel (Exodus 19:13; Numbers 10:1-4; Jeremiah 4:5; Joel 2:1, 15; etc.).
The Feast of Atonement may very well be the seven-year Tribulation (Matthew 24 3-28; Revelation Ch. 6-18), a.k.a. The Time of Jacob's Trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), and Daniel's Seventieth Week (Daniel 9:24-27).
The Feast of Tabernacles may be the easiest of the remaining three feasts to understand. Revelation 20:1-15 describes Christ 1000 year Millennial Reign. Christ will literally be Immanuel, God residing with His people.
Regardless of the events symbolized by the Lord's Feasts, it is a sure thing that Jesus will not be coming as the Lamb of God, but will be recognized as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5)! He will be coming as the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and will rule with a rod of iron (Revelation 19:1-16)!
YOU CAN BOW BEFORE HIM NOW AS YOU LORD AND SAVIOR,
OR YOU SHALL BE FORCED TO BOW BEFORE HIM AS YOUR JUDGE!
TRUST IN HIM TODAY WHILE YOU STILL HAVE TIME!
