ROMANS 10:8-13
[Based upon my understanding of the King James Version.]
The Word (that message which has the power of God to save you; the Gospel - Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the Word of faith, which we preach; that if you willingly confess with your mouth your faith in the Lord Jesus, and you truly believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes and God accounts it to him for righteousness (Jesus took our sins and offers us His righteousness - 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:6); and with the mouth confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus reveals to others that you are saved. For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes in Him shall not be ashamed (see Psalm 107:2; Isaiah 49:23). For there is no difference between the Jewish believer and the Gentile (non-Jewish) believer: for the same Lord, Who is over all, is rich in mercy* and grace** unto all who call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Notes:
* "Mercy" is from a loving God, Who provided His Only Begotten Son to die for our sins that we might be offered eternal life through faith in Him. Mercy is not getting what we deserve!
** "Grace" is from a loving God, Who saves those who believe in His Only Begotten Son, period! Grace is getting all that salvation provides, when it is clear we do not deserve it!
