WHAT IS SIN?
The Bible defines sin as "the transgression of the Law of God," whether by commission: 1 John 3:4 - "Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law."; or by omission: Jam. 4:17 - "Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin."
THE PENALTY FOR SIN IS DEATH!
Deuteronomy 24:16 - "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin."
2 Chronicles 25:4 - "But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the Law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin."
Ezekiel 18:4, 20 - "Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine: the soul that sins, it shall die....The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."
Romans 3:23; 5:12; 6:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God....Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned....For the wages of sin is death...."
WHY WAS THE LAW GIVEN?
Romans 3:19-20 - "Now we know that (whatever the Law says), it says to those who are under the Law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the Law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin."
Galatians 3:18-26 - "For if the inheritance be of the Law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. (The what is the purpose of the Law)? It was added because of transgressions, until the Seed should come to Whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the Law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a Law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the Law. But the Scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the Law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the Law was our school master to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."
JOHN 8:24
I SAID THEREFORE UNTO YOU, THAT YOU SHALL DIE IN YOUR SINS:
FOR IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I AM, YOU SHALL DIE IN YOUR SINS!
JOHN 14:6
I AM THE WAY, I AM THE TRUTH, AND I AM THE LIFE;
NO MAN COMES UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME!
