REMEMBERING ONE WHO GAVE HIS ALL!

THE BASIS FOR THE LORD'S SUPPER!
JOHN 6:31-63 - A CONVERSATION IN THE SYNAGOGUE:

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but My Father gave you the true Bread from heaven.  For the Bread of God is He Who comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this Bread.
And Jesus said unto them, I AM the Bread of Life:  he who comes to Me shall never hunger; and he that believes on Me shall never thirst.  But I said unto you, That ye also have seen Me, and believe not.  All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me; and he that comes to Me I will in no wise cast out.  For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him Who sent Me.  And this is the Father's will Who has sent Me, that of all which He has given to Me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.  And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
The Jews then murmured at Him, because He said, I AM the Bread which came down from heaven.  And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, Whose father and mother we know?  How is it then that He said, I came down from heaven?
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.  No man can come to Me, except the Father Who has sent Me draw him:  and I will raise him up at the last day.  It is written in the Prophets, And they shall be all taught of God.  Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto Me.  Not that any man has seen the Father, save He Who is of God, He has seen the Father.  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on Me has everlasting life.  I AM that Bread of life.  Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.  This is the Bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.  I AM the living Bread Who came down from heaven:  if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live forever:  and the Bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us His flesh to eat?
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.  Whosoever eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.  For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.  He that eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, dwells in Me, and I in him.  As the living Father has sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats of Me, even he shall live by Me.  This is that Bread which came down from heaven:  not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead:  he that eats of this Bread shall live forever.
These things said He in the synagogue, as He taught in Capernaum.  Many therefore of His disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?  When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured at it, He said unto them, Does this offend you?  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before?  It is the Spirit Who quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life.

BELIEVERS ARE TO EAT THE LORD'S SUPPER!

Matthew 26:26-28 - And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body.  And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Mark 14:22-24 - And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat:  this is My body.  And He took the cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them:  and they all drank of it.  And He said unto them, This is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

Luke 22:17-19 - And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:  for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.  And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you:  this do in remembrance of Me.

Luke 24:26-31 - Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?  And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.  And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went:  and He made as though He would have gone further.  But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us:  for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.  And He went in to tarry with them.  And it came to pass, as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, and blessed it, and broke, and gave to them.  And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their sight.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 - For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:  and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, Take, eat:  this is My body, which is broken for you:  this do in remembrance of Me.  After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood:  this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of MeFor as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till He come.

A WARNING TO THOSE PARTAKING!

1 Corinthians 11:27-30 - Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.  But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.  For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.  For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
