OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS VERSES GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS
"RIGHTEOUS" DEFINED:
HOLY; CHRIST-LIKE; AS GOD INTENDED US TO BE (GEN. 1:26)!
Genesis 15:5-6 - And He (the LORD) brought him (Abram) forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness.
Isaiah 64:6 - But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Daniel 9:18 - O my God, incline Thine ear, and hear; open Thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by Thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for Thy great mercies.
Matthew 6:33 - ...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Romans 3:20-27 - Therefore by the deeds of the Law (religious works) there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin. But now the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD without (apart from) the Law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets; even the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS: that He might be just, and the Justifier of him who believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. (Is it by the) Law? (Is it) of works? Nay: but by the Law of Faith. [Note: See also Ephesians 2:8:9]
Romans 4:2-5 - For if Abraham were justified by works, he had whereof to glory; but not before God. For what (does the Scripture say)? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that (does not work), but believes on Him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 10:3-4 - For they being ignorant of GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD. For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to every one that believes.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 - Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He has made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.
