IF NOTHING ELSE, MAN IS CONSISTENT

The most obvious truths presented to us in the Bible are that God loves us (although I cannot comprehend why), and we love noone but ourselves! We, like Adam, prefer to be equal to God, rather than acknowledge His sovereignty. Here are a few illustrations:

God's single command to all: "Do not eat from that tree" (Gen. 2:17).
Man's response: "And . . . he did eat" (Gen. 3:6).
Result: The Fall - Romans 5:12.

God's single command to all: "If thou doest well (act righteously), shalt thou not be accepted? . . . " (Gen. 4:7).
Man's response: "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man . . . was only evil continually" (Gen. 6:5).
Result: The Flood - Genesis 6:6-18.

God's single command to all: "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth" (Gen. 9:1).
Man's response: ". . . let us build us a city and a tower . . . lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth" (Gen. 11:4).
Result: The Dispersion - Genesis 11:7-8.

God's single command to Israel: ". . . Get thee out of thy country . . . unto a land that I will shew thee" (Gen. 12:1).
Man's response: "And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt . . . " (Gen. 12:10).
Result: The Egyptian Bondage - Acts 7:6.

God's single command to Israel: ". . . keep My commandments, and do them: I am the LORD" (Lev. 22:13).
Man's response: "Save Caleb . . . and Joshua . . . all the generation (did) evil in the sight of the LORD . . . " (Num. 32:12-13).
Result: Death in the Wilderness - Joshua 5:4.

God's single command to Israel: ". . . Prepare ye the way of the LORD . . . " (Isa. 40:3).
Man's response: ". . . and they crucified Him . . . " (Mt. 27:35).
Result: ". . . blindness in part has happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in" (Rom. 11:25).

God's single command to the Church: ". . . ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).
Man's response: ". . . the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly . . . " (Acts 6:7).
Result: ". . . there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria . . . " (Acts 8:1).

Do you want to know how the Church is doing?  Read Revelation 2:1 - 3:22!
