A FEW EXAMPLES THAT SHOW EVIDENCE
OF THE TRINITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT!
1. Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God* created the heaven and the earth.
*The Hebrew word translated "God" is Elohiym, a plural, masculine noun, which is rendered "God" 2346 times in the Old Testament. We know from the following verses that the actual Creator was Jesus, the pre-incarnate Son of God:
John 1:1-3, 14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. - - - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Colossians 1:16-17 - For by Him (context shows "Him" to be Jesus) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
Hebrews 1:1-2 - God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, by Whom also He made the worlds.
2. Deuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel: The LORD* our God** is one LORD.*
*The word "LORD" in all caps is the English way of designating the Hebrew word Yehovah
which appears over 6500 times in the Old Testament. Jehovah is the personage of the Trinity Who was seen by mankind (Gen. 32:30; 33:10; Judg. 13:22; etc.), for the Scriptures tell us that no man has seen God (The Father) at any time (Jn. 1:18; 6:46; 1 Jn. 4:12; etc.)!
**Again, the word "God" is from the plural, masculine noun Elohiym.
3. Genesis 1:26-27 - And God* said, Let Us** make man in Our** image, after Our** likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God* created man in His*** own image, in the image of God* created He Him;*** male and female created He*** them.
*Elohiym.
**Plural pronouns.
***Singular pronouns.
4. Genesis 3:5, 22-23 - For God* knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods,* knowing good and evil. - - - And the LORD** God* said, Behold, the man is become as one of Us,*** to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: therefore the LORD** God* sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
*Elohiym.
**Yehovah.
***Again, a plural pronoun.
5. Some Old Testament verses that refer to the Son of God:
Psalm 2:7 - I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto Me, You are My Son; this day have I begotten You.
Proverbs 30:4 - Who has ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you can tell?
Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
YOU CAN TRUST HIM AS LORD TODAY,
OR KNEEL BEFORE HIM ON JUDGMENT DAY.
THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU!
Today, the eyes of Israel are partially blinded to the truth of Jesus being their Messiah (Rom. 11:25), but one day soon, every eye will see Him coming in His glory (Rev. 1:7), and all of humanity will bow before Him (Phil. 2:10) and declare Him to be King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev. 19:16)!
