SAVED - BAPTIZED - SERVING!

CHRIST COMMISSIONED HIS CHURCH!

Matthew 28:19-20 - Go . . . and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:  and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.  Amen.

NOTES:

"Go . . . teach all nations" - the Greek matheteuo, is better translated "make disciples."  Disciples are made by hearing and believing the Gospel (Rom. 1:16; 10:17).

"baptizing them" - during the church age, baptism follows salvation (Acts 8:35-38).

"in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" - because Jesus was given all authority by His Father, to Whom He also submitted Himself (Mt. 28:18; Jn. 5:30) and was conceived of the Holy Ghost, by Whom He was also filled (Mt. 1:18; Lk. 4:1); and the Three are One (1 Jn. 5:7); His disciples represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost!  "Ghost" is from the Greek word pneuma, which is better translated "Spirit."

"teaching them" - the Greek didasko, means "to instruct"; in context, teach those who believed and were baptized.  Baptism is both a profession of faith, and a sign of submission!  This Greek word appears in 91 verses in the New Testament, all referring to those skilled in God's Word, teaching those under their spiritual leadership (1 Tim. 3:1-5).

"to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" - the word "observe" is from the Greek tereo, meaning "live according to."  Christians are to live according to the teachings of Jesus (Rom. 12:1-2; Phil. 2:5-8).

"and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."even though Jesus is physically seated next to His Father in heaven (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 12:2), spiritually, He dwells in us (Jn. 17:23, 26)!  "world" is from the Greek aion which means "a period of time"; "an age."

"Amen." - is transliterated from the Greek amen, meaning "so be it!"  Because the same word appears in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and many other languages of the world, it is said to be, perhaps, the most recognizable word in human speech.
