GOD CHASTENS HIS CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT YET IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS SON!


2 Timothy 2:19  
Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, 
having this seal, The Lord knows those who are His.  
And, Let every one that names the name of Christ 
depart from iniquity.

Deuteronomy 8:5 - You shall also consider in your heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.

Deuteronomy 18:18-21 - If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:  then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; and they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.  And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die:  so shalt you put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

2 Samuel 7:13-15 - He shall build an house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.   I will be his Father, and he shall be My son.  If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:  but My mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.

Job 5:17-18 - Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects:  therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty:  for He makes sore, and binds up:  He wounds, and His hands make whole.

Psalm 94:12-13 - Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, and teach him out of Thy Law; that You may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be dug for the wicked.

Proverbs 10:13 - In the lips of him that has understanding wisdom is found:  but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

Proverbs 13:24 - He that spares his rod hates his son:  but he that loves him chastens him betimes (in a timely fashion; when necessary).

Proverbs 22:15 - Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 23:13-14 - Withhold not correction from the child:  for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.  You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.

Proverbs 26:3A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.

Proverbs 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom:  but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.

Sirach 30:1 (from the Apocrypha) - He that loves his son causes him to often feel the rod, that he may have joy of him in the end.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.  And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you.  For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that has so done this deed:  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Hebrews 12:5-11And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of Him:  for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.  If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the Father does not chasten?  But if you be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are you bastards, and not sons.  Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence:  shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?   For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.  Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous:  nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised thereby.


1 John 3:2
Beloved, now are we the children of God, 
and it does not yet appear what we shall be:  
but we know that, when He shall appear, 
we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
